There was an inspirational story of a lady who searched for a job, for almost fifteen good years without a breakthrough. Life was so hard for her that getting money for dail needs was a great difficulty.
One day, with only one dollar in her hand, she dejectedly entered a restaurant and bought food to quench her devastating hunger. Food served, she prayed to bless the food. Her prayers were: God bless the food and provide for those who are hungry.
However, as soon as she finished the prayer, and was about to eat, three emancipating and hungry men came in, looking so skinny and showing the need for her food. They lamented about the debilitating hunger afflicting them and asked if she could give them her food. With a heart full of compassion, the lady obliged and gave them her food.
They wanted to pray for her but she told them that they needed the prayer more than her. She left them with joy in her heart that she could be a blessing to others despite her own personal predicaments.
As she was about to exit the restaurant, the three hungry men called her and gave her an old coin. She collected the coin reluctantly and went away. Out of tiredness and hunger, she decided to rest for a while under a big tree.
After a few minutes of short light sleep, she saw a dirty page of a daily newspaper and picked it out of curiosity. She read a section of the newspaper and saw an advert about an old coin that got lost many years ago. The advert requested anybody that found the coin to return it to the owner with the promise to be paid the whopping sum of 10 million dollars. A picture of the coin was conspicuously displayed in the newspaper
As soon as she was done with the reading, she checked the coin in her hand and it was exactly the same in the advert. The lady rushed down to the address and they confirmed it and issued her a cheque of 10 million dollars. She rushed back to that restaurant to see those three men but she didn’t find them.
When she asked the waiters about the whereabouts of the tree hungry-looking men, they gave her a written note that the men left behind. She opened it, and this is what was written in the note:
“This is the God of the Father, the God of Son and the God of the Holy spirit. No man who praises God shall be left to suffer. Him, his son and grandson’s shall live happy under the umbrella of God.”
LESSON: Blessed is the hand that gives than the hand that receives. The Bible in Acts 20:35 states that “In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive” which teaches that there is joy in the act of giving when it is done with pure motives. It promotes our own peace.
