Detailed investigation has finally revealed that Aisha Buhari’s wrist watch costs $129 NOT $43,700 as reported recently. While various news sites and gossips blog has reported that the Cartier Baignoire Folle 18-Carat White Gold Diamond Ladies Watch wore by President Muhammadu Buhari’s wife, Aisha Buhari to the inauguration which held on Friday, May 29th 2015 cost £34,500 which equivalent rate of N303 to £1 is N10, 453, 000 (Ten Million, Four Hundred and Fifty Three Thousand Naira), the same Cartier Baignoire Folle 18-Carat White Gold Diamond Ladies Watch comes in a case made of rhodiumised white gold set with brilliant-cut diamonds while the side of the case is an octagonal crown set with a diamond is just $129. The watch case is 44mm high, 35mm wide and 10mm thick and is covered by glare-proof sapphire crystal glass.

Our investigations on search engines revealed that there are exactly same watches of same make but with different prices with Buhari’s wife going for the least of them. Nevertheless, we should not forget the fact that Aisha is a successful beauty and fashion entrepreneur who comes from a noble family background in Adamawa State. Buhari is such a strong leader that would not cave in to the frivolities of harbingers of baseless tales. His strength of character got him the presidency not the costly or cheap wristwatch of his adorable wife.

It is however, sad when one sees  many intelligent Nigerians wasting their precious time writing and arguing on matters like this instead of coming up with ideas the government can buy from their creative minds on how to create well-paid jobs, sound healthcare, affordable 24/7 electricity, portable water, conducive accommodation and many more.We must remember that Nigerians did not vote the wife of the President. Of what concern is it to know the amount her wrist watch costs? We need to stick to the issue of governance, and to the best of our knowledge the cost of a wrist watch isn’t a governance issue
